Shoe Box Owners Donate Shoes to Wakulla County Children
Written by Beth O'Donnell, Asst. Superintendent for Instruction Friday, 21 October 2011 11:52
Some Wakulla County children will benefit from a generous donation from owners of The Shoe Box store in Tallahassee.
Owner Bill Weldon, his son Geoff Weldon, and Shoe Box partner Bill Day donated over 450 pairs of new shoes to the Wakulla County School District.
Guidance counselors and administrators from all of the schools, prekindergarten through high school, met at the District Office to divide up the shoes. Some went to Special Olympics students, and others were kept for Christmas to outfit children in the same family with different sizes. Others will be stored to use as children’s needs arise.
“Such generosity is heart-warming,” stated Superintendent David Miller. “We are grateful to business partners who understand the needs of our children.”
The Shoe Box is located at 2820 South Monroe Street in Tallahassee.
