School District Employee of the Year Recognized at Board Meeting

Brenda-clemons-and-cookBrenda Clemons, the 2009-2010 Employee of the Year, will honorably represent Wakulla County in the State of Florida School-Related Employee of the Year recognition program.   Previously recognized as employee of the Month in November 2003 and May 2009, Mrs. Clemons has proven her dedication to education through her attendance and participation in numerous training sessions from public records seminars to certification training to personnel conferences and more.
Mrs. Clemons shares, “It is an honor to be a member of a high performing school district team.  I thank God for putting me in an area where my strengths naturally contribute to our team and the community.  Being a part of the solution and not the problem is a key to our success.”

Executive Director of HR Karen Wells adds, “Brenda Clemons models three important aspects in her role.  First is integrity.  She is charged with safeguarding information and the confidentiality of those she serves.  The second is Service above self.  Brenda gives 110% every day.  She provides a positive, professional courteous attitude to those she encounters.  During her 14 years as a school bus driver she gave the best she had to her kids.  Now she gives the best she has to the community, our vendors and employees.  Last but not least, Brenda believes in excellence in all that she does.  She insures that whatever task she is assigned, is done well.  She is a professional and consistently gives her best.”

Transportation Coordinator Pat Jones has known Mrs. Clemons in a professional capacity for 16 years.  Jones adds, “I knew with her positive attitude, enthusiasm, and love for her job she would be an asset in her new role.  Mrs. Clemons has the ability to relate effectively with individuals and can handle most any situation.  By establishing a positive rapport with students and parents she effectively provided safe dependable transportation services for fourteen years.”
Mrs. Clemons graduated from Leon High School and worked as a food service assistant, bus driver, bookkeeper, head cashier and assistant manager at Champ’s, Wendy’s and North Florida Christian before joining the Wakulla School District Team.

When not busy working, Mrs. Clemons supports her daughter, Stephanie, as she travels around the State competing with the Capitol Punishment roller derby team, tending to her garden, and relaxing in her pool.  Superintendent David Miller concludes, “Mrs. Clemons will represent Wakulla County Schools at the State level with compassion, enthusiasm and team spirit.”
