Foundations of Counseling

Our Centers are committed distinctively to Christian counseling. We believe that God intends for people to understand their problems and utilize biblical solutions to solve them, so their lives glorify God as they experience real change.

We believe that God’s Word is the absolute standard and is sufficient for dealing with all of life’s situations. Our goal is to help the counselee practically apply pertinent Scripture and biblical principles to his/her situation.

Superficial solutions are not lasting ones. Solutions cannot be reached without dissection of the problem, study, effort, accountability, and prayer on the part of all parties involved.

Our relationship to the local church is a vital element of our Centers’ goals. We are committed to the authority of the Christian church and its work. We encourage counselees to affiliate with a local church, where they can not only receive the love and support they need, but become a serving member of the Body of Christ.

Additionally, we provide support ministries, to churches when requested through workshops, seminars, training, and consultation.

About Dr. Tomberlin

Dr. Sylvia Tomberlin has a Master’s Degree from Florida State University in Speech Pathology and Audiology, and a Doctorate in Biblical Christian Counseling from Master’s Graduate School of Divinity.

Dr. Tomberlin is the Director and Biblical Counselor for Daily Life Counseling Centers located in Tallahassee, Crawfordville, and Madison, Florida, serving all surrounding counties.
Dr. Tomberlin has been involved in mentoring and counseling families and individuals for over twenty years. She trained and worked extensively with Drs. Donald A. & Debra Dunlap, prominent biblical counselors in the Southeastern United States.

She has been a member of the Titus 2 Women’s Team, speaker for Girlfriend to Girlfriend and other women’s conferences, served as a consultant in various mediation situations, and is an author and vocalist.

Mother of four children and eight grandchildren, she has been married to husband, Richard, for forty-two years. They live in Tallahassee, and worship at Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
Dr. Tomberlin states: “to participate in, and witness a person’s life change from negative to positive, from one full of anxiety, depression, fear, and conflict, to one of peace, confidence, and genuine joy, is an unspeakable blessing.”
