Annual Senior Citizens Golf Tournament Draws Over 100 Golfers

The weather was beautiful for the annual Senior Citizens Golf Tournament held at Wildwood Golf and Country Club this past Friday,  March 23, 2007.  The tournament was presented by the Wakulla County Senior Citizens Center and Sheriff David Harvey. 

Over 100 golfers participated in the tournament with over $3,700 awarded in prizes.  R.H. Carter, Executive Director of the Wakulla County Senior Citizens Center, addressed all players prior to the start of play, and thanked Wildwood and all of the event sponsors.  Sheriff David Harvey fired the shotgun @ 8:30 a.m. to start play.

There were 26 teams scheduled to play.  The winners include:

1st Flight

First Place - Don Smith Team
Second Place - Johnson Insurance (team 1 )
Third Place - Wakulla Bank (team 1)

2nd Flight

First Place - Home Instead (team 1)
Second Place - Ruby Snyder (team 2)
Third Place - Jason Winn Team

3rd Flight

First Place - CSG (team 1)
Second Place - Vause Voorting Team
Third Place - ESG Wakulla Team

Tommy Johnson Team		Home Instead Team

The players enjoyed a breakfast buffet and lunch buffet at the Bistro at Wildwood.  We would like to give special thanks to Wakulla Bank as our Title Sponsor.  Thanks also to Lamar Advertising for the tournament sign.  

Wakulla Bank elected to honor one of Wakulla County’s senior citizens as Senior Celebrity for the tournament, ninety-six year old Ms. Billie Stradleigh.  Stradleigh, a native of New York, is an avid reader and active member of her St. Teresa church and the Senior Citizen Center.
