Wakulla 12U Heads for Championship Game

alabama game group pic 275The Wakulla County 12U Allstars were trailing Hokes Bluff - Alabama State Champions in the first 5 innings of play during the Cal Ripken Southeast Regional Tournament on Tuesday's semifinal game.  Alabama held Wakulla to 5 hits and was leading 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth.  With 1 out, Wakulla's offensive force began with a solo home run.

Alabama's pitching struck out the next batter, and with 2 outs Wakulla showed why they deserved to be in the championship game of the Regional tournament.  The next two batters hit singles, and the following four batters hit doubles tying the Alabama team 6-6 before being put out on an attempted stolen base.

{sidebar id=1}In the sixth inning, Wakulla struck out Alabama's first two batters and put out the third who hit a hard grounder to short stop.  With the pressure on, Alabama struck out the first batter, but this would not slow down this Wakulla offense.  Wakulla's next batter won the game with a solo home run to dead center.  This home run was the 20th for this Wakulla team in this tournament.

Wakulla (5-0) faces East North Carolina - Sandhills (4-1) July 25th at 9:00 CST in the championship game at Festival Park, Grand Bay, AL.  The winner will represent the Southeast in the Cal Ripken World Series in Van Buren, Arkansas beginning August 7th.
