Wakulla 12U Allstars Defeat Scott County, Missouri 13 - 2 in Game 3 of Cal Ripken World Series
The Wakulla 12U Allstars had a big win against Scott County, Missouri at the Cal Ripken World Series in Van Buren, Arkansas. The game, which was the third for Wakulla so far in the series, was played this past Sunday, August 12 at 1:00 p.m. EST.
Wakulla came alive early in the game, scoring 4 runs in the first inning alone. Although Wakulla didn't score in the 2nd inning, they more than made up for it in the third. Wakulla hit 2 doubles and one triple resulting in two more runs, making the score 6 - 0. Wakulla then scored three more runs, bringing the score to 9 - 0. With the bases loaded, Wakulla hit a grand slam homerun, bringing all the runners home to make the score 13 - 0 Wakulla in the bottom of the third inning. Scott County scored their only two runs during the 4th inning, making the final score of the game 13 - 2 Wakulla.
{sidebar id=1}"We really came alive today," said Wakulla Coach Randy Barnes. "It was awesome. The guys really hit the ball extremely well today; I can't say enough about them. We play New Jersey tomorrow, and they have some heavy batters. I think it will be a close game." Barnes said he was very proud of how well the Wakulla defense played. He added that he would spend the afternoon scouting the 5:30 New Jersey game.
In summary, Wakulla finished Game 3 with 10 hits; 13 runs; and reached base twice on walks. They had 5 doubles, 1 triple, and one grand slam homerun.
Scott County, Missouri had 8 hits; 2 runs; 1 RBI; 5 walks; and 5 strikeouts.
Wakulla defeated Van Buren, Arkansas 5 - 3 in Game 1 on August 9, then lost to Scottsdale, Arizona 5 - 2 on August 10 in Game 2.
Wakulla will next play New Jersey, Bridgewater on Monday, August 13 at 6:30 p.m. EST.
