jacob walker game 2 125.gif After a disappointing loss on Friday, August 10th to the Scottsdale Arizona team, Wakulla 12U Allstars regrouped and sparked the fire that brought the team to the Cal Ripken World Series against Missouri on Sunday, August 12th in Van Buren, Arkansas.  (Pictured at left:  Jacob Walker at bat against Scottsdale)

On Friday, Wakulla struggled at the plate with only 4 hits the and scoring 2 late runs in the 5th inning, which was not enough to overcome the Midwest Plains Regional champions from Scottsdale, Arizona.  Arizona scored early in the 1st inning on a 3 run homerun and held Wakulla’s offense at bay.  Arizona scored another run in the 2nd and an unearned run in the 3rd inning.  This was Wakulla’s first loss in the postseason.

{sidebar id=1}On Sunday, Wakulla’s offense put on the pressure in the first inning scoring 4 runs on 4 hits to the Scotts County, Missouri regional champions.  Missouri could not stop the offensive force in the 2nd or 3rd innings as Wakulla earned 9 more runs on 8 hits.  Wakulla’s pitching also held the Missouri team to 2 runs on 6 hits and 5 strikeouts.  Wakulla’s win eliminated the Missouri team from the tournament, as Wakulla advances to the last day of pool play on Monday.  Wakulla faces the New England Regional Champions from Bridgewater, New Jersey at 5:30 pm.
