Lizzie Butler will Continue Soccer Career at Sewanee: the University of the South
Wakulla High School’s Lizzie Butler will continue her soccer career next season at Sewanee: The University of the South located on 10,000 beautiful wooded acres in southeast Tennessee. U.S. News and World Report has consistently ranked Sewanee as one of the top forty liberal arts colleges in the nation. Lizzie has been awarded an academic scholarship and will play offense on the 2008 Sewanee Tigers Women’s Soccer Team. Coach Dylan Harrison has followed Lizzie’s progress since seeing her play at the 2006 Orange Classic College Showcase and The 2007 Germantown Invitational. The Tigers are members of the NCAA Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
{sidebar id=3}Lizzie is an eight year veteran of the Tallahassee United Futbol Club and has earned a number of honors during her time as a War Eagle. As a four year captain of the varsity team she immediately distinguished herself as a leading striker in the Big Bend area. She was named to the Tallahassee Democrat’s All Big Bend First Team last year and awarded MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards by the War Eagle coaches. She has been selected to play in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Classic in Port Saint Lucie in March. Butler was named this year’s Wendy’s High School Heisman School Winner and is a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.
Family, friends and teachers gathered in the Wakulla High School Media Center on Tuesday to celebrate Lizzie’s commitment to Sewanee and the Tiger Program.
