Weather No Match for Grubbs, Knox at 2010 Wildwood Open
Written by Pete Sands, Director of Gof, Wildwood Golf Club Friday, 27 August 2010 06:01
This past weekend saw plenty of pars and birdies, along with a few rain drops at the 2010 Wildwood Open.
Former PGA tour pro Kenny Knox (pictured below) and local amateur Will Grubbs (pictured above) stood atop the leader board after the 36th hole and battled it out in a playoff. Play was suspended due to darkness and co-champions were crowned. Knox and Grubbs put up two rounds sub-par of 137.
Other notables were Jason Jones at 139 and Mark Harman at 142. Other winners include USGTF member Geoff Bryant who won the Senior Pro flight; Mike Sullivan of Tallahassee won the Championship B flight; Tommy Brown of Tallahassee took control of the First flight; Sheriff David Harvey of Crawfordville won the Second flight; Barry Kirkland of North Georgia won the Third flight; Chuck Shields won the Net Senior flight; and Dave Tuplin won the Gross Senior flight.
Director of Golf Pete Sands was pleased with the turn out this year. “This weekend was a great success for us, and it could not have been possible without the great support of the participants and our generous sponsors.”
