Wakulla Resident Makes Waves in Swimming
Joey Briggs, a freshman of the International Baccalaureate Program at Rickards High School, was named to the All Big Bend Second Team for his 7th place finish in the Region 1-1A High School meet in 100 fly (58.23).
Briggs also swam the freestyle anchor leg for Rickards High School of the 4 x 50 yard Medley Relay at the High School 1-1A State Meet. The relay placed 13th.
The Democrat also named Briggs one of it's "Athletes of the Week" during the swimming season for his first place finishes in the 50 free and 100 free in a three way meet against Leon and Maclay High Schools.
During the high school off-season, Mr. Briggs swims for ATAC (Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club), and is ranked nationally by USA Swimming, 11th 50-free LCM 26.56, 22nd 100-free LCM 58.28, 23rd 100-Butterfly 1:04.63, and 39th 200-free 2:08.79.
