Written by Keith Cline Tuesday, 16 November 2010 08:10
On November 5th through the 7th, 2010, eleven Wakulla County Special Olympics athletes and four coaches traveled to Orlando to compete in the 2010 State Fall Classic.
Athletes competed on Friday and Saturday in singles, doubles and team Bowling and stayed at the Disney’s All Star Resort.
The results were as follows: Sarah Andrews received the Gold Medal in individuals; the team of Brian Metzler and James Crum received the Silver Medal; and Keith Cline, Pamela Gay, Tameron Timmons, Bailey Estes, Bradley Erwin, Tyler Clifton, Brandi Wagner, and Alex Dutton all received ribbons.
Other events of the weekend were Opening Ceremonies on Friday night at Disney’s Wide World of Sports which included a visit from Mickey and fireworks. During the Closing Ceremonies on Saturday night, Tyler Clifton and Denise Ray were voted the Inspirational Athlete and Inspirational Coach representing Wakulla County. After Closing Ceremonies, it was the Victory Dance in the Milk House where all the athletes were fist pumping until their arms nearly fell off.
Finally, on Sunday, everyone went to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to eat brunch and check out the awesome sites. The athletes would like to thank all the volunteers and donors for making this trip possible.
