Commissioners' Service is Appreciated...But
Saturday, 24 March 2007 04:06
Dear Editor,
I appreciate the Commissioners service to our county; after all, very few will offer to serve their community in this way.
However, whenever the county faces a financial crises , the discussion does not focus on tightening our belts, cutting back, reducing the budget, that would mean being fiscally responsible. Instead, the first suggestion is almost always to raise taxes. This is a cowardly way to run any government.
We all face financial crises in our life, most of us common folk don't have access to get additional cash, rather we must often do without, in order to make ends meet.
Our County Board of Commissioners must "man-up' and find other ways to make ends meet, other than raise our taxes, everytime a crises arises.
I challenge our Commissioners to become more fiscally responsible with our money, after all this is what the tax-paying citizens deserve and expect.
Thank you.
