Help Available to Those Who Qualify for Making Switch from Septic to Sewer
Are you worried that hooking up to sewer will force you to lose your home? Or do you know someone in this situation? Come to a meeting on Thursday, March 13, and find out if you qualify for help.
I have invited speakers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to explain its grant and low-interest loan programs to help take the sting out of the switch to sewer.
Many citizens of Wakulla County fear that when a new sewer comes to their neighborhood, the county will require them to pay thousands of dollars to tap into the sewer and to remove their old septic tanks.
The USDA offers help for qualifying seniors and those with low incomes. I want to be sure that everyone in the county who qualifies gets the information they need, and I ask that residents spread the word to anyone who might be interested.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, in the County Commission meeting room behind the courthouse in Crawfordville. The USDA will provide information packets. If you can’t make it to the meeting but would like more information on these programs, please contact me by phone at 228-9641 or by e-mail at
