How Talquin Members Select Trustees

Talquin Electric Cooperative has an annual meeting this month.  In accordance with the bylaws,  each Talquin member (single member or one of two persons from a joint membership) from any of the four counties served through the cooperative may vote.  There is no voting by mail or by proxy.  All members who wish to participate must register and vote at the Annual Meeting being held at Shanks Middle School gym, 1400 W. King Street, Quincy, Florida on Saturday, September 26th.  Registration and voting is between 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. that morning.  The short business portion starts at 10:00 with drawings for about 100 door prizes following.  All events end about 11:30 a.m.

Door prizes this year will include a 42” flat screen TV, other flat screen TVs, Nintendo WII, iPods, Foreman Grill, GPS, and much more.  In 2007, there were 100 door prizes.
This year the Nominating Committee recommended the incumbents for each of the three positions with expiring terms.  Dr. Elfner has been nominated by petition and Talquin management has confirmed that, in accordance with the bylaws, she meets the qualifications to serve on the Board in the District 7 position.  Results of the election will be announced at the end of the meeting.
