Wakulla Health Care Task Meeting Minutes

January 22, 2008

Members Present:  Tomica Archie Smith, Lynn Artz, Mary Lescher, Rob Moss, Cathy Price, Lori Steele.

I.     Welcome & Introductions

II.    Approval of Agenda

III.   Approval of Minutes

IV.   County-wide Smoking Cessation Intervention:  Planned and finalized issues related to the Quit and Win Event. Distributed Quit and Win Brochures for agencies to hand out to consumers/employees.

V.    Visitor Brochure: Reviewed requests on suggested changes to the brochure.

VI.   Provider Updates:

Capital Area Healthy Start Coalition:  Announced two events coming up to address Infant Mortality. The first event, Black Infant Mortality Summitt, will be held February 2nd at FAMU. The second event, The Year of the Infant, will be March 15th at TMH.

TMH Respiratory Services:  Mary Lescher, Director of Respiratory, reported communicating with School Health Nurse regarding Open Airways program in the elementary schools.

TMH:  TMH recently opened doors to the new Urgent Care. Patients are encouraged to go to Urgent Care for non-emergency illnesses. Urgent Care is located across the street from the Emergency Room. Wakulla Family Medicine is still working on getting the X-Ray Dept. up and running.

VII.  Meeting Adjourned:  Next meeting is February 26th at 6p.m. at TCC in Crawfordville.
