Get Ready to Quit Smoking with "Quit and Win"

Wakulla County:  Get Ready to Quit Smoking!

quit and win logo 100.gifThere’s never been a better time to quit smoking for people who live or work in Wakulla County.  Local health care providers and health organizations have teamed up to sponsor Quit & Win, a countywide campaign to quit smoking on February 10.  This campaign is similar to the American Cancer Society’s Great American SmokeOut in that everyone quits smoking on the same day.  However, Quit & Win gives people a chance to win cash prizes if they can quit smoking for an entire month.

Five cash prizes for up to $500 are being offered.  To have a chance to win a prize, people who currently smoke cigarettes must a) fill out an entry form and turn it in by February 9, b) quit smoking on February 10, c) stay off cigarettes through March 9, and d) be one of the 5 lucky quitters whose name is drawn on March 9.

For an Entry Form CLICK HERE.   Entry forms also are available at health care provider offices, including the health department, and public places such as the library.  As a last resort you can pick up an entry form at the Valentine’s Festival in Hudson Park in Crawfordville on February 9.

Also available at the Valentine’s Festival on February 9 will be “survival kits” filled with items to help people quit smoking the following day.  Just look for the Quit & Win booth at Hudson Park.

If you’re one of the many cigarette smokers who has been thinking about trying to quit smoking, February 10 is the day to quit.  What better Valentine’s gift could you possibly give your family?  You might win one of the five cash prizes, too!

Wakulla.com is proud to participate as a sponsor of Quit & Win.  Other major sponsors include Tallahassee-Memorial Family Medicine – Wakulla, Wakulla Medical Center, Wakulla Health Care Task Force, Wakulla County Health Department, The Wakulla News, and the Big Bend Rural Health Network.  For more information, please contact Lynn Artz (926-8756; <lynn_artz@hotmail.com>) or Cathy Price (926-7125 x276;  <cathy_price@doh.state.fl.us>).
