"Miss Denise"

Miss Denise has been teaching dance for 26 years.  She began teaching under the direction of Joanna Denny in Middleburg, FL.  She and her family moved here to the Crawfordville area and she began a small studio at Nu Body Fitness Center in 1989.  The next year she moved to the Wakulla Adult Education Program and taught through the school system for the next three years.  With the goal of creating a real dance studio atmosphere for her students, she moved to her present location at the Market Square as "Dancing With Miss Denise". 

Involved with dance since the age of 8, Miss Denise has studied under professional dance teachers from Dance Caravan, Dance Makers, Dance Olympus Access Broadway and Al Gilbert.  She credits her love of dance to Mr. Buddy Sherwood and Mrs. Joanna Denny, who trained her to be an instructor/director.  "They were a great inspiration to me, and I want to pass on that inspiration to my students, in hopes they will always strive for their dreams and be the best they can be."  Now that Miss Denise has become established with her studio, she has taken on additional projects such as taking her competition teams and soloists to seminars to compete at Dance Caravan, Applause Talent and Access Broadway Regional and National events, bringing home Platinum High Gold and Gold awards.  At these seminars students also learn the newest and most up-to-date dance techniques.  Miss Denise also judges for pageants, flag, cheerleading, dance squad tryouts, and volunteers with numerous organizations.

Faculty

Lauren Manning

Lauren is an 8th year instructor and has studied under Miss Denise's direction since the age of 9.  She began to train to teach in the areas of baby work to intermediate levels of dance since the age of 10.  She has been a member of our Sr. competition team for 4 years and Captain of WHS Sidekicks Dance Team for one year.  She attends dance workshops throughout the year along with Miss Denise to learn the newest in dance choreography.  She has also been a part of the competition team at Tallahassee Dance Academy placing Platinum and High Gold awards.  She is continuing to work her way through college and trains at dance workshops to learn new innovative dance choreography from professional dancers.  Lauren teaches pre-school through advanced Ballet, Tap, Jazz and choreographs competition routines.

Jenny Willis

An 11th year instructor, and 24 year dance veteran, Jenny was a member of the WHS dance team for 4 years and the captain for 3 years.  She has been a member of the Tallahassee Community College Forensics team for 2 years and toured with Eastern Dance Association for one year.  Jenny has won many awards in drama and dance including State Champion in Forensics.  She choreographs advanced work in Lyrical, Tap, Jazz, Modern and Hip Hop.  Jenny keeps up with the latest in dance choreography by taking classes with Wade Robson from MTV, Barry Youngblood and many other professional dance instructors and performers.

 

New Instructor:  Kelly Butler

 

 Kelly Butler - Professional Instruction provided in Clogging and Pre-school work.  Miss Kelly has completed the studies of ballet, tap, jazz, gymnastics and clogging for 10 years.  She was a member of the Sidekicks dance team at W.H.S. from 1996 - 1998.  She is presently going to TCC to achieve her degree in Radiology Technology.  Kelly is the proud mother of Neveah, Orla and Kierra Butler.  She joins our staff teaching Clogging and Pre-School Dance.

 

New Instructor:  Jessica Seaver

 

 Jessica Seaver - Professional Instruction provided in Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Musical Theatre.  Miss Jessica comes tous from Tampa, Florida and has studied dance for 10 years under the Atelier of Dance Studio.  She has participated in many drama, dance and vocal ensembles such as:  All That Jazz, Cell Block Tango, Les Miserable, Don't Tell Mama, and Madrigal Dinners.  While participating as a core and feature dancer of Plant High School Dance team for 4 years achieving the awards of Best Leadership and Most Creative competing in many competitions winning overall awards in 1st through 5th place.  She has also been an active member in the Drama Club, La Sertoa Serivce Club, where she served as Vice President and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  She has her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Marketing and is continuing her education attending Florida State University.

We are very pleased to introduce Kelly and Jessica onto our Professional Staff.
