Panacea Appoints New Postmaster after 18 Years

Panacea has a new Postmaster.  Leah L. Hall was appointed Postmaster effective January 5, 2008.  Hall follows Linda Durant Thompson who served as Postmaster for 18 years.

Hall is married to James Hall, who is retired.  She is the mother of two sons:  Ronnie, who will be attending Texas A&M in the fall, and Barry, HT1 in the US Navy.  Barry's is married to Tracy, and they have two children, Jeremy and Nathan.

Hall's first exposure to “inside the Postal Service” was as a contract cleaner for St. Marks and Sopchoppy from 1994 to 1996.  With the encouragement of then St. Mark's Postmaster Pat Ward and Maj Strickland, then Postmaster of Sopchoppy, Hall took the postal exam and was hired as a clerk in Sopchoppy in January 1997.  She continued to work in Sopchoppy until transferring to Panacea to serve as clerk in 2004.

During her career as clerk she has served as Officer in Charge in the offices of Sopchoppy, Eastpoint and Woodville.  Hall brings with her not only experience in various size offices but a sincere desire to serve the citizens of the community, while at the same time maintaining the integrity of the service.

She is a member of the Sopchoppy Homemakers and Sopchoppy Southern Baptist Church.  Congratulations to Leah on this appointment.  "May the wind be at your back”.
