Written by Sheryl Grimes, St. Marks Stone Crab Festival Wednesday, 20 October 2010 18:35
The annual St. Marks Stone Crab Festival will be held this Saturday, October 23, 2010 in downtown St. Marks, Florida in Wakulla County.
More than 10,000 visitors are expected this year to enjoy music, shopping, and best of all, stone crabs. Vendor James Moore of Marie’s Shark and Alligator of Georgia said, “Last year was my first time and I didn’t expect the large turnout. But this year I’m prepared and bringing more meat – 400 lbs. of alligator plus 70 lbs of shark. It was a tremendous success for us.”The October 23 festival runs from 10 am – 6 pm. There will arts and crafts, informational booths, and of course, stone crabs!! Portions of the festival’s profits go to the St. Marks Waterfronts Florida Partnership and the St. Marks Volunteer Fire Department. The festival is a 501.c3 Non Profit Corporation.
