Plans for March 6 Big Bend Barkfest Moving Right Along!

barkfest logo 150.gifHi Everybody,

As you may or may not know, I am on the Board of Directors for Big Bend Barkfest.  This is a festival that will be held on Saturday, March 6th, 2010 at Wakulla High School, only 5 bucks for a whole day of fun and entertainment.  We hope it will be successful enough to become an annual festival.

We'll have food vendors (including Sonny's Bar-B-Q!), some great arts & crafts vendors, exhibitors, dog adoption booths, etc.  In the football stadium, where you can sit comfortably in the bleachers and have a great view of the show, we'll have an entire day of dogs showing off their talents, skills, and even being silly.  This will kick off with a parade around the field of formerly homeless dogs and their now-permanent owners (I will be walking my Hannah).  After that, unbelievable demonstrations, fun contests, and whimsical stuff, all by every kind of dog you can imagine.  Amazing demonstrations by professionally trained dogs, for example, K-9 units, Search & Rescue Dogs, all things along those lines.  Also, Frisbee dogs, agility dogs, retrieving dogs doing their thing.  Wiener races, funny costume contests, best trick, ugliest dog... anything you can think of, we'll probably have it.

Check out our website at BigBendBarkfest.com.  Please come if you can... if you have a dog you'd like to enter in a contest, please do so.  If you have a dog that you adopted or rescued, please enter them in our opening parade.

{sidebar id=1}If you'd like to make a donation, it takes a lot of money to bring a thing like this to life.  We have PayPal on our website:  http://bigbendbarkfest.com ... safe and secure, all you need is a credit card and 2 minutes of your time.

If you know someone who has a dog to enter in a contest, please pass this e-mail on to them.  If you know someone who might like to be a vendor, please pass this on to them.

And finally, even if you are not a dog lover, there will still be a lot of fun things going on, some great arts & crafts vendors, and only $5 to get in for an all day (9-5) festival.

AND... all profits will go to paying for health care for homeless dogs awaiting adoption.  These dogs who desperately need health care, and it can be anything from heart worm treatments to diabetic dogs, are the first ones to get euthanized, because there are rarely funds available to pay for health care for dogs who don't belong to anyone.

With your help, we hope to change that in the Big Bend area.  Once these dogs get the health care they so deserve, their chances of finding homes increase dramatically.

And finally, if you can't come, if you can't help in any other way... there is still one simple little thing you can do.

You can forward this link to everyone you know.

Thanks everyone, if you have any questions that can't be answered via our website (http://bigbendbarkfest.com ), let me know!
