Second Annual African American Heritage Celebration a Success
The Second Annual African American Heritage Celebration was held this past Saturday, February 17th, at Hudson Park in Crawfordville.
The day got off to a chilly start, but then it warmed up nicely for the festivities. The celebration, sponsored by the Wakulla County Christian Coalition, began at 10:00 a.m. with a parade through the middle of Crawfordville on Highway 319. Activities continued throughout the day, with a wonderful array of food booths, a performance by members of the East Gadsden High School Marching Band, interpretive dancing by a mime group, and much more.
This years' Parade Grand Marshal was Trave Williams, president of Big Hearted Angels, Inc., a non-profit group that provides Christmas shopping expeditions and back-to-school supplies for needy children, many right here in Wakulla County.
The main focus of the event was to provide educational and historically significant Black History information. There were also many booths providing information on different health services available in Wakulla County.
