My Fellow SNAPPERS,
If you were not at the Leon county IFAS office last nite you missed this month's SNAPP meeting. As usual we got to see some great images.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday May 26th.
Florida caverns State Park is having some great activities on Saturday April 23rd to celebrate Earth Day. Things kick off at 9:00 A.M. Central Time.
Dean and Sally Jue will be speaking to the Apalachee Audubon Society on Thursday April 28th at 7:30 P.M.(Social at 7:00). The topic is the Rare Butterflies found throughout the state. The meeting location is the Historic Amtrak Station, 918 Railroad Avenue in Tallahassee--- just off of Railroad Ave. just south of West Gaines St.(371). Go to www.apalachee.org for more information.
If you have not heard yet the DEP and our wonderful new governor, Rick Scott (sic) have decided to cut DEP's budget by at least 15%. This budget cut is proposed to include the closing of Wakulla Springs Lodge and cutting back on activities at the Park. Other parks affected include Homosassa Springs, Hillsborough River State Park, Rainbow Springs at Dunnellon and Weeki Wachee at Spring Hill.
All you Republicans and good Democrats out there write or call your Legislatures. It may be too late-- it looks like a done deal. At least they rescinded the ideas about closing one third of the state parks and the "great"(sic) idea of putting golf courses on many of our beautiful natural assets.
Get out and enjoy Earth Day anyway !!!!!!!
