Hurricane Preparedness Tips from the UF/IFAS Wakulla County Extension Office - Day 4

hurricane-preparedness-tips-day-4-imagePlease consider doing one small thing TODAY that would better prepare you for the threat of a hurricane coming our way.

Today we are going to continue preparing our Disaster Information Tub in case of disaster.  You can store many of these documents electronically on a CD, disk, or USB flash drive.  You can scan some of these original documents into your computer or have them scanned in so that you can have an electronic archive.  We are keeping needed information together in one accessible but secure place so you can “grab them and go”.

Today you are going to……

1.  Locate the Disaster Information Tub you purchased yesterday

2.  Add the following item to it:

- Insurance policies summary. List the name of the company, type of policy, and policy number
- Passports
- Educational Records
- A copy of wills, trust documents, Living Wills/Advance Directives
- House, Car and other Property Titles
- Copies of the following

3.  Birth dates of all family members

4.  Marriage Certificates

5.  Divorce Statement

6.  Death Certificates

7.  Adoption Papers

This is your assignment for today.  Assemble all of the above and put them in your Disaster Tub!!!!  Whew this was a busy day.  I will lighten the load tomorrow.
