The Blue Shades of Grass Back for August 28 Opry!

blue-shades-of-grass-300One of the all time favorite bluegrass bands ever to play the Opry, The Blue Shades of Grass, will return August 28–7 pm to the stage of historic Sopchoppy High School Auditorium for a command performance!

The band is led by world-class Dobroist Jackie Hill and includes everyone’s favorite comic and stand-up bass player Lacy ‘Burt’ Murray, Tommy Davis on guitar with banjo picker extraordinaire, Shane Copeland rounding out the fantastic instrumentation that produces the unique sound that is the Blue Shades of Grass!

“The Blue Shades are an extraordinary band”, says Mac McWaters,  Opry Founder and General Manager.  “And its itinerary shows it!  The band is in high demand playing bluegrass shows throughout the South at the favorite bluegrass venues in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky & Alabama.  We are happy to have them back again this year!”

Jackie-Hill-Blue-ShadesA heavy performing schedule keeps the group busy, but Jackie Hill (pictured at right) says the Blue Shades love playing the Opry!  ‘This is one of our favorite gigs.  The fans are enthusiastic about our music, always pack out the house and make us feel really welcome’.

Lacey-Murray-Blue-ShadesThe Blue Shades’ ‘tight’ instrumentation, smooth harmony, fantastic showmanship, great variety of music with a generous sprinkling of comic relief makes this show a ‘can’t miss’!  These guys take a lot of pride in their work and always provide the fans with good family friendly music and comedy.  When all these are put together in one show, something very special happens!  It’s The Blue Shades of Grass Show!  Don’t miss it.  Tickets are going fast.  Call 962-3711 and reserve your seats right away!

The Opry house band, Southbound will entertain the first hour with a whole new batch of songs performed by our own ‘sultans of sound’ - Reggie Bradley on electric bass; Wayne Martin, fiddle; Lamar Brock, percussion; Larry Bullock, pedal steel; Dr. Mike Purvis, lead guitar with Johnny Calloway, singing lead and playing rhythm guitar!  And then at 8:30 pm, it’s Jackie Hill & the Blue Shades of Grass taking the stage to round out an evening of great family fun & entertainment!  This is the kind of show that causes folks to say that the Sopchoppy Opry is just ‘the best place to be the last Saturday night of every month’  for great country music, wonderful fellowship and delicious food and desserts!

Come early and enjoy an entrée, a hot BBQ Sandwich, Hotdog and some world class desserts before the show!  You can dine in comfortable surroundings right at the Opry door!  Ticket office & Opry Café open at %:30 pm on show date.
