The Sopchoppy Opry is into its 11th year and the music performed by the best musicians and singers anywhere keep the area’s most popular classic country, Gospel and bluegrass music showplace rolling along in style!
As a case in point, the September 25-7 pm show in historic Sopchoppy High School Auditorium will feature the always popular Purvis Brothers (pictured at right) and Heritage Harmony as South Bound Band’s special guests! Better get your tickets early for this one, call 962-3711 and reserve your seats! Every Sopchoppy Opry is a classic and fans come from all over to enjoy the show performed in the tradition and atmosphere of the original ‘Grand Ole Opry’. Don’t miss out on an evening of great music and fun with South Bound, the Purvis Brothers and Heritage Harmony!
The Purvis Brothers – Mike, Wendall & Frank – are the pride and joy of Monticello, Florida where they have made music together for the past 30 years. The brothers, proud of their rural heritage and up bringing, learned early how to play and sing at church worship services and social gatherings. Their talent and performing savvy was soon discovered and they’ve become a tradition at places like the Monticello Jamboree, the Perry (Fl) Opry and other popular venues in the Big Bend. More recently, the Purvis Brothers have been playing backup for Nashville star and Country Music Hall of Fame member, Charlie McCoy! The Sopchoppy Opry is honored to have the Purvis Brothers back for the September 25 show! It’s always a special occasion when the Purvis Brothers come to town!
Heritage Harmony, the dynamic duo composed of Glenda Sue Bradley and Peggy June Cox will make their Opry debut on the September 25 show and bring years of performing experience to the Opry stage! Glenda & Peggy grew up together in Grand Ridge, Florida where they, at the age of five learned they could sing beautiful harmony while attending a church sponsored singing school. They continued to develop their vocal skills singing together at church and community functions through their high school years but went separate ways after graduation. Glenda Sue entered a career in human resource management in Tallahassee and Peggy June, after completing college returned to Calhoun County as a teacher. Both are retired now and have re-discovered how much fun it is to perform. We are honored to welcome Glenda & Peggy to our show!
The Purvis Brothers, Heritage Harmony and a new show by South Bound Band, too! Is there a better way to spend a fall evening? Come out and enjoy a lively performance of classic country, Gospel and bluegrass music! It’s the best entertainment value anywhere at just $8 a ticket and all the folks are so nice, too! Call, 962-3711, today!
Come early to the show, pick up your tickets and enjoy some great food from the Opry Café! There is tasty BBQ pork sandwiches, hotdogs, a variety of yummy desserts and a special entrée! The ticket office and Opry Café open at 5:30 pm. CALL 962-3711 FOR MORE INFORMATION.
