Country Legend Hoot Gibson Returns for 2011 Sopchoppy Opry Season Finale

hoot gibson 125The Sopchoppy Opry will perform its 141st show on Saturday, November 26 at 7pm in historic Sopchoppy High School Auditorium and the last for the 2011 season!

Talent Coordinator Reggie Bradley has put together the perfect show to end another year of great country, bluegrass and Gospel music!  South Bound’s special guests for the ’11 season finale are Hoot Gibson & Friends!

Lloyd E. “Hoot” Gibson, 88 years young, is truly a living legend in country music!  His musical career spans more than 6 decades and he’s showing no sign of letting up!  Hoot’s fan base has enormous proportions and he has probably entertained more people at more events than any other one performer!  “For someone who began his career with Hank Williams, lived and flourished through the numerous fads (of music) and remained true to the country tradition, he’s amazing!” says Opry General Manager Mac McWaters.  “And he’s done it all with a style and grace that has made him one of country music’s best ambassadors.  What a great way to close out another fantastic year at the Sopchoppy Opry!”  Tickets will go fast for this one!  Reserve yours early! Call 962-3711!

Hoot always delivers an upbeat performance, whether he’s performing for 50 or 1000 fans!  He‘s an inspiration to all with his positive personality and high-energy stage presence.  His love for the classic country sound combined with a powerful singing voice, has kept him in the mainstream of the Big Bend’s music scene as one of this area’s most beloved and enduring entertainers.  Truly a musical icon!

Hoot Gibson’s repertoire includes his signature song, “The Keys Are In The Mailbox (come on in)”, "Waltz Across Texas", "Calijah" and a host of other country tunes popular through the years.  Hoot developed his own comedic Elvis Presley impression during the era of ‘rock-n-roll’!  It became so popular that every audience now expects to see his ‘Elvis’! and calls for encores of his ‘Hound Dog’ rendition are echoed through the hall at every show!  “Hoot’s love for the stage and his fans shines through every time he’s there," says Mac McWaters.

Hoot Gibson & Friends and Southbound Band, too!  All this and the great fellowship of the best classic country music fans in the world!  Wow!  What a way to spend a Saturday night after Thanksgiving!  Folks it doesn’t get any better than this!  We’ve saved our best for last!  Don’t miss this show!  Get your tickets now!

Come early and enjoy delicious desserts and other tasty concessions!  The Opry Cafe and ticket office open at 5:30 pm on show date!  All tickets are $10.  Purchase at the door or call ahead (962-3711) for reservations!
