A Job for YOU!
FWMA is in need of reliable, responsible volunteers to sign up for the following tasks:
1. Yard Sale Coordinator
Advertise sale date, contact volunteers to set up, work and break down after the sale
and book the venue.
2. Junk Collector
Coordinate the collection of items for yard sales, store items until the sale date,
arrange delivery to the venue and dispose of left over items after the sale.
3. Yard Sale Volunteers
Volunteers to set up sale, sell items - MUST BE PEOPLE FRIENDLY
4. Festival Coordinator
Rent space / complete application, sign up volunteers to work usually in three hour
shifts, arrange volunteers to set up and break down education booth and arrange
transportation of booth to and from warehouse.
5. Festival Volunteers
Volunteers to set up booth and sell items - MUST BE PEOPLE FRIENDLY
6. Festival Volunteers – Children’s Activities
Creative person who loves children to coordinate and supervise children’s art
projects with our festival/education booth.
7. Education Volunteers – Kids Programs (at facility)
Must love children! Patient, reliable and able to get down and get dirty with good
leadership skills to coordinate and supervise various work days at the facility.
8. Education Volunteers – Outreach Programs
Must be over 18 and must love children! Responsible and reliable person who is
willing to learn about handling birds of prey and other wildlife education animals. This
area is strictly regulated by permit conditions. Must be able to follow instructions for
the safety of the volunteer and the public.
9. Grant Researcher
To assist our Grant Coordinator in locating grants that apply to FWMA.
10. Facility Volunteers
Reliable and responsible individuals who love the great outdoors and don’t mind
getting down and dirty! The position includes cleaning and feeding animals, raking
paths, shoveling, hauling a wheelbarrow and working with others.
11. Nursery Volunteers
Reliable and responsible people who would love to be locked in a room with 200+
screaming baby birds who demand to be fed every 20 minutes. What goes in, must
come out so a desire for cleaning is also a must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone interested????
12. Frosty Volunteers
Reliable and responsible individuals with a little horse sense. Someone who doesn’t
mind talking to themselves while grooming and mucking out her stall. Frosty is a very
spoiled 27 year old Welsh Pony who lives with her friend Freckles (the goat!). She is
blind and has severe allergies. She requires daily grooming and likes to have people
around her who are loud and love to sing so she knows where you are at all times!
Please be prepared to come at least once a week.
13. Rescue Volunteers
Reliable and responsible individuals who do not mind being interrupted anytime
during the day or night to be asked to chase down an assortment of injured critters.
Must have own transportation, good common sense skills. Only sign up for this if you
and your spouse are 100% committed!
14. Running Errands
1. Wal-Mart run:
to pick up feed and cleaning supplies (usually two carts full!)
one
day a week
2. Ashleys Feed Store: must have pick up – pick up dry feed order one day a week
3. Raffields: located in St Joe (a long drive!) to pick up pelican fish every two weeks
4. Winn Dixie: to pick up supplies for volunteer events once every two weeks
5. AVS: located north side of Tallahassee to pick up medical supplies approx once
every two months
6. PetSmart: to pick up supplies every two weeks
7. IGA Panacea: to pick up fruits and vegetables daily. Need volunteer for Friday
and Saturday
8. Wakulla Senior Citizen’s Center: to pick up unfolded newspapers once a week
9. Thrifty Nickel: to pick up newspapers from the dumpster once a week
10. Wakulla County Animal Control: to pick up dry dog food and other items
once every two weeks
11. Crawfordville Post Office: to drop off mailings, bills etc and pick up stamps once a
week
12. Office Depot Tallahassee: to pick up office supplies once a month
13. Patricia Duggar, Woodville: to pick up goats milk (frozen, in 1 gallon containers
that sometimes leak!) once a week
14. Goosecreek Wildlife, Tallahassee (next to Spay
& Neuter Clinic): to pick up bird
of prey food and often live
animals at least once a week
15. Paws and Claws Animal Hospital, Bradfordville Rd, Tallahassee
Reliable and responsible individuals who do not mind being interrupted

during the day to be asked to take an assortment of injured
critters for veterinary
care and don’t mind waiting with the animal.
Must have own transportation, good
common sense skills. Only sign up
for this if you and your spouse are 100%

16. Cross Creek Animal Hospital, Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee
Reliable and responsible individuals who do not mind being interrupted
anytime
during the day to be asked to take an assortment of injured
critters for veterinary
care and don’t mind waiting with the animal.
Must have own transportation, good
common sense skills. Only sign up
for this if you and your spouse are 100%
committed!
17. Fruit Chopper
Someone to dice apples, potatoes and sweet potatoes (by the ton!!) for the 50+ deer
at the facility once a week.
18. Fruit Gatherer
Someone to gather berries, pears, acorns etc for the critters – great project for the
kids!!!! As often as possible!
19. Chicken and Egg Cooker!
Someone to cook approximately 30lbs of chicken and 2 dozen eggs per week.
20. Laundry Expert!
You ain’t seen nothin’ like our laundry. If you would like to put Oxy
Clean to the test
this one is for you. We need reliable people (with
very little sense of smell!) to come
out to the facility and do laundry
during baby season (April 15th – October 15th) – at
least seven loads
per day!!!
21. Baby Bird Food Maker
Help us make Baby Bird McDiet! One morning/afternoon every two weeks during
baby season
22. Unfolding Newspapers
Something you can do either at the facility or at home! Gather
newspapers (discard all
advertisements). Fold them out sorting single
sheets in a separate pile. This saves us at
least one hour every day!
23. Building Coordinator
Reliable and responsible individual with a knowledge of the building process to
coordinate building projects at the facility.
24. Builders / HandyPersons!
Any building skill will do!
25. Christmas Coordinator
We need help planning Christmas events for our volunteers, members and
businesses
that have supported us throughout the year. This is a major
project!
26. Christmas Elves
We need lots of individuals who like to bake, wrap gifts, dress up, act
silly, deliver
packages, do awards, shop and know how to put together a
party!
27. Craft People
Individuals who are creative and would like to make an assortment of
natural
products and works of art for our craft booth (e.g. bird
houses, bird feeders, bird
feed, stones, pictures etc).
28. Blanket Makers
Gather blankets from Goodwill, cut down to carrier size and sew.
29. Costume Makers
We have three parades every year. We need additional costumes for the kids (animal
costumes).
30. Place to Store & Host Yard Sale Items
We need a good, dry shelter to store the goodies we collect for our
yard sales and a
convenient and sheltered facility in which to hold the
sales.
31. Web Master/Sales Rep
We’ll be looking for someone to help us manage a web site soon to be
donated to
us! Included in this position will be selling ads on
the site.
