Steve Smith,
Men's Fraternity of Wakulla

The new time for men to gather “outback” at Cornerstone Ministries for Men’s Fraternity of Wakulla seems to be working out well. Except for a few ‘die-hard dads’ that insist on being at every Soccer game with their kids… ( and we think that’s great!!), our attendance has been up. At our last Thursday meeting we had 23 guys gathered around a bonfire and just talked ‘shop”… Men’s Fraternity shop that is. The burgers and beans were great along with all the trim'n's that went with ‘em.
{sidebar id=1}After a call to 911 the bonfire was kept under control and we sat back to get an update on what’s going on with Men’s Fraternity of Wakulla. For the new guys, Coordinator Steve Smith went over what Men’s Fraternity of Wakulla is all about: the multi-parts of the fellowship; the Focus, the Mission and the Purpose. We talked about how each participant would benefit from giving and receiving through participation. Plans were laid to have a monthly campfire meeting the last Thursday of each month and to plan a quarterly “Family Gathering” where spouses and kids could come and participate. We discussed our partnering with the activities of Fellowship in the Field (www.fellowshipinthefield.org ) and attending some great “guy stuff” like Skeet Shootin', Arm Wrestling, Archery, Remote Control Airplanes, Wildlife Displays and Monster Truck Runs, “Guy Toys”. We also talked about how we can be involved in our community through ArkAlmighty, a community outreach of neighbors helping neighbors. (There will be more information on our website soon).
Even though some of the guys didn’t know others, there was still some sharing going on and we got to know each other a little better. Men’s Fraternity of Wakulla is a group of men who support each other in our day-to-day thoughts and activities. The group meets ‘Outback’ at Cornerstone Ministries, 824 Shadeville Road (Hwy 61) 2 miles east of downtown Crawfordville. After sharing a meal and fellowship together, there’s usually a 45-minute video presentation by Dr. Robert Lewis, followed by a 20-30 minute small group discussion and sharing time. During our sharing time we usually find out that ‘we’re not alone’ in our quest for manhood and through that sharing we can help each other. We invite men of all ages, faiths and races to be a part of this men’s support group each week.
