Gorgeous Weather Greeted the Blessing of the Animals

St. Teresa Episcopal Church and Wakulla Presbyterian Church welcomed many residents (both two-legged and four-legged!) for the annual "Blessing of the Animals" on Sunday, October 8, 2006.  The weather was beautiful, and the pets were plentiful!  Dogs, birds, a cat, a horse, a donkey, a hermit crab, and even a handful of worms all turned out to be blessed for the coming year.

Photographer Tracie Churchard and her daughter took their dog to the event for the first time.  "It was very entertaining, and we left with a real sense of peace for the animals that we share this earth with," said Churchard.

The Blessing of the Animals is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. The offering that was collected will be donated to the Wakulla County Animal Shelter.

Please enjoy the terrific photo gallery below of pictures taken by Tracie Churchard at the event.
