Wakulla Community Theatre is Back with OUR TOWN 

Wakulla Community Theatre is back in business after an extensive restoration of the theater dressing rooms at historic Sopchoppy School.

Reba Mason, director and founder, announced recently that the Wakulla Players, many of whom have been performing with the WCT since its beginning in 1992, will participate in the Spring production of Thornton Wilder’s OUR TOWN, one of the finest achievements in American theater.  The Pulitzer Prize winning play will run two nights, May 4 and 5.

OUR TOWN has received praise from numerous critics around the country since its first appearance in 1938.  It last had a run on Broadway in 2004 with Paul Newman playing the role of the Stage Manager.

This will be the first straight play produced in WCT’s history.  The cast and crew are extremely excited about the upcoming performance of this American classic.

Assisting Mason on the directing staff are Jan Pearce and Mina Sutton who will be stage directors. Mason said that Pearce and Sutton both have extensive experience in community theater.  She added that their expertise and energy will bring added enthusiasm to the show.  Carolyn Lambert will also return to put her skills and talents to work designing the sets and costumes.

General admission tickets will be available at the door for $10 and $15 dollars.  Both shows will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The WCT welcomes new Angels (Theatre Patrons).  Angels receive two reserved seats in the front center section for opening night, Friday May 4.  This contribution also provides much needed financial assistance to the local community theater.  Angel contributions are available for $100.  Call Marian Revell, 926-7801 or Reba Mason, 962-3804.

Appearing in leading roles are Mike Swift, Louis Hernandez, Gene Lambert, Lisa Copeland, Kim Oliver, Sarah Dix-Martin, and Will Shepherd.  Supporting actors include Arlo “Adrian” Kelly, Gary and Rena Crum, Randy Newland, Jeff and Jackie Dux, Amanda Sutton, Luke and Seth McManus, Alan and Leah McManus, Mike Chappell and Jowanna Harvey.
