In Memory of Robert "Bob" Ryon

Robert "Bob" Ryon, 72, of Tallahassee, Florida, died peacefully on the morning of Thursday, March 13, 2008.

A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. EDT, Monday, March 17 at Harvey-Young Funeral Home in Crawfordville, Florida (850-926-3333).

Born August 21, 1935, in Jacksonville, Florida, Bob was a member of the Florida Army National Guard and attended school at the University of Florida.  As a young adult, he served on the board of the Jacksonville Jaycees.  He was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Temples in Jacksonville and Tallahassee.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman and an accomplished hunter and fisherman.  As a young father, Bob shared his love of the outdoors with his family on their cross-country camping trips.   His love of the Florida Gators was also shared with his family as evident by the Orange and Blue ever-present at family gatherings.

As a retired Florida State Park Ranger and a volunteer host with the U.S. Park Service, Bob was able to share his knowledge and passion for nature with park visitors.  While he enjoyed his outdoor work as a Park Ranger, his fondest professional memories were of the time spent working in the Florida Senate and as the Purchasing Director for the Florida Secretary of State's Office.

Bob is survived by his three children, sons Robert "Bobby" Ryon, Jr. (and wife Jodi) and Patrick Michael Ryon (and wife Stephanie) and his daughter, Robyn Elizabeth Kinsey (and husband Troy), all from Tallahassee, and his sister, Mary Jane Callaghan (and husband Tom)  of Allquippa, Pennsylvania and his brother, John Ryon (and wife Marcita) of Surprise, Arizona.

He was known as "Papa" to his ten loving grandchildren, Robert "Tripp" Ryon, III, John Samuel "Sam" Ryon, Terry Lee Black, Brandon Sharpe, Ivy Elizabeth Ranzinger, Mason Harper Bontrager, Chelsey Maria Kinsey, Cobi Ann Ryon, Sophia Belle Ryon and Jake Wilson Ryon.
