In Memory of John "Jack" Robert Schliep, Jr.
John "Jack" Robert Schliep, Jr., 50, died on Sunday, July 29, 2007, in Tallahassee, Florida. He was a Financial Fraud Detective for the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Schliep, of Crawfordville, Florida. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007 at Harvey-Young Funeral Home in Crawfordville, Florida.
John "Jack" Robert Schliep, Jr., was a resident of Crawfordville for three years, and a former resident of Citrus County. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Moose Lodge, and an Honorary member of the Kentucky Colonels. He was also a board member of the Big Bend Task Force.
He began his career at Trenton State Prison in New Jersey. He then moved to Florida and joined the Citrus County Sheriff's Department, where he served for 18 years. While there he established the Financial Fraud Division. Over the course of his career, Schliep received many awards and was highly respected and revered as a mentor and role model for his fellow officers. He worked very hard in achieving higher education.
He is survived by his mother: Rosina Schliep of Riverside, New Jersey; one daughter: Heather Mazeao and husband Greg of California; two step-daughters: Hayley Provenzano and husband Scott, and Erin Suber, all of Tallahassee; one sister: Robin Stiener and husband Charles of Morristown, New Jersey; one grandchild: Sara Grace Mazeao of California; two nieces: Emmalynn and Sara Stiener of Morristown, New Jersey; and one nephew: Brenton Stiener of Morristown, New Jersey.
