In Memory of James Arthur Morris, Jr.
James Arthur Morris, Jr., 65, passed away August 20, 2008 in Tallahassee, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Hambleton Morris.
He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a third generation forty year employee of Seaboard/CSX Railroad. He was also a United States Army veteran. He was a mentor to countless young people who knew him as "Mr. Jimmy", "Poppa Jim" or "Uncle James". He was always fixing the local kids' bikes, later their trucks and then later offering them advice on life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Florida Baptist Children's Home, 8415 Buck Lake Road, Tallahassee, FL 32317.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Harvey-Young Funeral Home with burial at New Light Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, August 22, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Harvey-Young Funeral Home.
Other survivors include his mother, Alzada Strickland Morris; two sons: J.A. Morris, III of Crawfordville, and T.J. Ard (and wife Terrie) of Tallahassee; one daughter: Belinda Morris Chitwood (and husband Greg) of Crawfordville; two granddaughters: August Elizabeth Chitwood and Jacqueline Ava Ard; three aunts: Annette Morris Strickland, Cora Morris Greene and Geneva Morris Cain (and husband Randy); five nieces: Mitzi Revell (and husband Ricky), Cheryl Barton (and husband John), Tina Hamilton, Brandi Revell, and Allie Cain; five nephews: Garrett Revell, Todd Califf, Billy Watford, Jimmy Hamilton, and Arron cain; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Morris, Sr. and two sisters, Ruth Jackson and Peggy Ruff.
