In Memory of Jakie Pearce Pepper

Jakie Pearce Pepper, 71, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2007 in Sandy Springs, Georgia.  A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park.  Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, (850)877-8191, is handling the arrangements.

Jakie Pearce Pepper was born on May 6, 1936 in Tallahassee, Florida.  She attended Leon High School in Tallahassee, but graduated from high school in Graceville.  She attended Florida State University, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority.  She worked at Mendelson's department store in Tallahassee during high school.  She later worked for the State of Florida in the Department of Insurance, leaving there to work at the Tallahassee Democrat.  Her most important job, though, was being a stay-at-home mother to her three children.  She was an avid lover of the arts and was a gifted pianist and loved to dance.  She also loved FSU football and baseball, and managed to read a book a day.  She is the daughter of the late Wakulla County Commissioner A. R. Pearce Jr.  The Pepper family has been a member of Temple Sinai in Atlanta for 33 years, and Jakie was a member of Hadassah for 30 years.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Pearce, of Crawfordville; her husband of 50 years, Ronald Pepper; her three children:  Eric Pepper and wife Sharon,  Jack Pepper and wife Debra, all of Atlanta, and Betsy Grugin and husband Steve of Marquette, Michigan; three grandchildren:  Elizabeth, Mallory, and Kayla Grugin.

She is also survived by two brothers:  Randy Pearce and wife Jill of Crawfordville, Florida, and John Pearce and wife Meredith of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida; one sister:  Pat Brooks and husband Bob of Montgomery, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Blvd. N.E., Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345; to Weinstein Hospice, 3150 Howell Mill Road N.W. Atlanta, GA 30327-2108; or to Weinstein Center, 5300 Tilly Mill Rd., Dunwoody, GA 30338.
