In Memory of Henry Clyde McCarthy
Henry Clyde McCarthy, 86, of Wakulla Station, Florida, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2008 in Wakulla Station. He was a retired Plant Operator from Seminole Asphalt Refinery. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Winnie McCarthy.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at wakulla Station First Baptist Church in Wakulla Station, with burial following at Woodville Cemetery in Woodville, Florida. The viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Harvey-Young Funeral Home (850-926-3333).
Mr. McCarthy was born in West Bay, Florida and was a resident of Wakulla County and Leon County for 54 years. He was a decorated WWII veteran and received the bronze star and two purple hearts. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He also received an award from the French for service during the Normandy Invasion 50 years after the fact. He was a long time member of Crossway Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and the treasurer. He was a member of Wakulla Station First Baptist Church since its inception and was a very active deacon since 1967.
He is also survived by a son: Gene McCarthy and wife Brenda of Crawfordville; a daughter: Alice Faye McCarthy of Denver, Colorado; a brother: Johnny McCarthy and wife Betty of Cochran, Georgia; two sisters: Mildred Smith and husband George of Limestone, Georgia, and Juanita Harris and husband W.C. of Macon, Georgia; a stepdaughter: Betty Clayton; three grandsons: Jonathan McCarthy and wife Suzanne of New Orleans, Joseph McCarthy and wife Susie of Tallahassee, and Jared Green and wife Amber of Woodville; two stepsons: Howard Foxworth and wife Helen, and Ray Foxworth and wife Sherry; a special granddaughter: Kim Weaver, who helped provide nursing care; and seven great-grandchildren: Landon Green, Logan McCarthy, Gryphon McCarthy, Samantha McCarthy, Luke McCarthy, Christopher Weaver and Christian Weaver.
He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Frances Ruth McCarthy; two step-grandchildren: Brook Carraway of Jacksonville, and Diana Robinette of Wake Forest, N.C.
