In Memory of Dora "Edith" Moore

Bevis-logo-200Dora “Edith” Moore of Columbia, MO, formerly of Wakulla County, FL, passed from this earth Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Lenoir Health Care Center. Visitation will be held at the Lake Ellen Baptist Church in Medart, Florida, Friday, July 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services immediately following.  A memorial gathering for friends will be held in Columbia at a later date.

Edith was born on August 12, 1925 in Panacea, Florida, the daughter of the late Samuel C. Wommack and Estelle Syfrett Wommack.  She was united in marriage to Clyde Wellman in 1944, and two children were born of that marriage, Roma Wonneman and Vaughn Moray “Ray” Wellman.  Edith graduated from high school in Sopchoppy, Florida.  The family moved to Columbus Ohio, and lived there for many years.  During that time Edith worked at General Motors/Ternsted Division, becoming the first female timekeeping supervisor at that facility.  She retired in 1981 from GM with 28 years of service.  Following her retirement, she moved back to her beloved Wakulla County, Florida.  In 1991 Edith married Oscar “O.S.” Moore.  In 1992 Edith and O.S. moved to Columbia, Missouri to be near her daughter and family.  While living in Columbia, Edith and O.S. attended Calvary Baptist Church, making many friends there.  O.S. preceded her in death in 2006.  

Edith is survived by her daughter, Roma and husband, Jack, of Columbia, MO; her son Ray and wife, Melanie, of Columbus, OH; Grandsons, Robert (Evelyn) McHugh of Sturgeon, MO; Morgan (Missy) Wellman of Plain City, OH; and Troy Mueller of Columbia, MO.  In addition, she is survived by Great Granddaughters, Kaylee Wellman and Paige McHugh, and Great-Great Grandson, Darius Robert McHugh.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by nine siblings.
