The Wakulla County Tourist Development Council (TDC) will host a Public Workshop and Presentation on “Social Media Marketing for Tourism” on February 22, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Wakulla County Commission Chamber.
The purpose of this workshop is to educate tourist-related businesses and organizations on how to use social media to market their tourism events, products, and services. Nate Long, Industry Relations Manager with VISIT FLORIDA will be making the presentation. The TDC is beginning to use social media (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc) in marketing and promoting Wakulla County as a tourism destination. The more our local tourism industry stakeholders know about how to use social media, the better it works for everyone.
The presentation/workshop is free and is offered to anyone interested in learning more techniques and strategies for marketing through social media. All tourist-related businesses, as well as any interested individual members of the community are welcome to attend. Participation from event organizers, lodging facilities, restaurants, outfitters, guides, and attractions is greatly encouraged. Pam Portwood, TDC Director states that, “public participation in TDC efforts to promote Wakulla County is vital” and that TDC “greatly appreciates the participation of our local tourism industry.
