County Commission Will Discuss Ways to Help Unemployed Workers
On Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 5:00 p.m., the Board of County Commissioners will hold a workshop to explore ways to help local workers who are unemployed and struggling financially. One idea to be discussed is the possibility of designating a site (such as the Ag Center or a church) where workers looking for odd jobs and potential employers can meet. Other ideas are sought.
Anyone interested in this topic is invited to attend the workshop at the Commission Chambers at 29 Arran Road (behind the Tax Collector’s Office). Participation is requested of churches and other facilities that could serve as potential sites, employers of day laborers, workers looking for work, and agencies that provide related services.
