Local Author gives Book Talk this Saturday

On Saturday the 20th, Jerrod Beasley will be giving a Book Talk on his self published work, The Red River Tearoom… and Other Remembrances, at 10:00 in our Main Meeting Room. Jerrod, who a few years back did custodial work at the Library, decided to go after his lifelong dream of becoming a published writer after a 40 year career as a Registered Nurse.  The Red River Tearoom is the culmination of that dream.  Taking place in the 1940’s and 50’s, the story tells the tale of Victoria, a young firebrand whose willingness to break the established boundaries of her culture in the South of the mid 20th Century causes her to be ostracized.  With her eccentric aunt’s support Victoria returns to lay claim to the life that should be hers.  We invite any who are interested in writing or publishing their work to join Jerrod and “pick his brain”.

Friday Night Movie

This Friday the 19th we are showing a G-rated family film.  Showtime is at 7:00 and we ask that all children be accompanied by an adult.

New Book for the Book Club

The Library’s Friday Book Club is beginning a new book this week, Dreamers, Schemers, and Scalawags: The Florida Chronicles Vol. 1 by Stuart B. McIver.  As of this writing we have 2 copies left for $7.50 apiece available at the front desk for those participating in the Book Club.  We hope to be forced to order more so please come out at 3:00 each Friday for the weekly meetings of this great Library sponsored group!
