Wakulla County Public Library Computer Class Schedule for January and February 2012

computer-classes-image-249x187-gif-versionThe Wakulla County Public Library is excited to announce that the library has recently installed all new public computers and updated to Windows 7 in the computer lab.

We also offer free wireless Internet access to patrons with wireless-enabled laptop computers or handheld devices.  Through this Wi-Fi access we seek to expand the number of users who can access Internet-based resources while at the library, thus furthering our mission to support the informational and educational needs of Wakulla County residents.

No matter what your skill level with computers, we have a class for you!  Our hands-on computer training is led by a skilled instructor, Deanna Ramsey, and conducted in the Computer Training Lab located here at the Wakulla County Public Library.

So whether you are a person seeking employment, wishing to enhance your current skill set, or a first time user, don’t let a lack of computer knowledge be an obstacle to your progress.c Join us for one of our many class offerings.vvWe have categorized the classes by topic based on the following tracks:

Computer Skills for First Time Users
Computer Skills for Job Seekers
Computer Skills for Career Advancement
Computer Skills for Hobbies and Entertainment

These categories are just suggestions.  Register for as many classes as you like.  You are not limited to any particular category.  All classes are held in the Computer Training Lab

January/February Schedule

All classes are FREE and open to Wakulla County residents.  The classes are held in the Computer Lab at Wakulla County Public Library, 4330 Crawfordville Highway, located on US 319, 3.7 miles south of the Courthouse in Crawfordville.  REGISTRATION REQUIRED.  Call 926-7415 to register.

Learn basic skills of personal computing including parts of the computer, how to use the mouse and   keyboard and start menu.

Windows 7: Getting Started

Learn to navigate Windows 7 and use programs provided including saving and printing.

Safely and securely access the World Wide Web; find information, how to shop, find driving directions, watch tv, etc.

COMPUTER SKILLS FOR HOBBIES AND ENTERTAINMENT

Facebook:  Upgrades and Timelines

Learn what’s new in the recent upgrade.  Learn how to navigate, control privacy, understand relationships, and manage timelines.

Skype:  Getting Started
Feb 8 (Wed)

Make FREE calls with Skype.  Download, set up an account, create your profile, create contacts, make a call, chat and more.

Digital Photography:  Getting Started

Learn a basic understanding of a digital camera from operating tips to maintenance and take a walk-a-bout to practice!

This class is for individuals who have used a previous version of Windows and wish to learn the new features of Windows 7.

Participants will be introduced to the multitude of job and career resources available online.

Microsoft Word 2007:  Getting Started

Create, edit, save and print documents.  Discover features such as: Spelling & Grammar, Auto Correct/Text, Find/Replace, etc.

Microsoft Word 2007:  Working with Multiple Page Documents

A continuation of Getting Started.  Continue to learn features that will prepare you for using this program in the work place.

Learn basics of desktop publishing and begin creating publications such a fliers, newsletters and brochures.

Microsoft Outlook 2007:  Your Personal Assistant!

Discover many time saving functions. create and send attachments, flag/categorize, create contacts, setup tasks and create notes.
