Wakulla County 4-H Summer Schedule for 2012

The Wakulla County 4-H program announces its Summer Camp Schedule for 2012:
Bachelor/Bachelorette Camp
June 5 – 8 (Tues – Friday)
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $50.00 per week*
Youth grow up and move out. How prepared are they to face bachelor/bachelorette living? Attend this day camp and learn about budgeting, financial management, how to take care of a baby, food preparation skills and clothing care. Hands-on learning experiences will be incorporated throughout.
Camp Cherry Lake – Madison, FL
June 11 – 15 (Mon – Fri)
Overnight camp
Cost: To Be Determined—range is $230—260 for the week*
This year camp will feature traditional activities including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, camp crafts, camp-fire, water games and archery. Not to be missed are the ever-popular marshmallow paint wars and dance!
Project Runway Wakulla
June 19 – 22 (Tues – Fri)
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $50.00 per week*
Participants will learn to put the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Repair philosophy into practice as they “re-build” a piece of clothing that has been overlooked in the closet or has been purchased from a re-use store. Participants will unleash their creativity as they re-create a clothing item of their choice through this artistic expression class. Boys and Girls are both encouraged to attend.
Sew Fun and Quilting
June 26 – 29 (Tues – Friday)
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $75.00 per week*
Campers will learn the basics of sewing, quilting and other fabric crafts such as pin making, weaving and oth-er needlecrafts. The diligent camper will be able to complete a lap-sized quilt and one simple item of clothing by the end of the week.
Survival 101: Cooking, Camping and Water Exploration
July 17 – 20 (Tuesday – Friday)
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $50.00 per week*
Campers will learn how to shoot a bow and arrow, track game, build a campfire and cook a meal using a solar oven. We will learn how to find safe drinking water as well as camp out overnight. Campers will also have the ability to fish and learn about the heritage of survival in Wakulla County throughout the years.
*4-H Camp Fee Scholarships are available and applications can be made at time of registration on Saturday, April 28, 2012 in Hudson Park. Camp fees are subject to change and all fees are due prior to each camp start date.
4-H is open to all youth, ages 5-18, without regard to gender, race, nationality, ethnicity, creed, or disability. Persons with disabilities should contact their Extension office at least 10 working days prior to the event so that special consideration can be given to the request.
