Tallahassee “Swing” Orchestra to Entertain at Vets Reunion Dinner Dance
By popular demand, the Camp Gordon Johnston Days reunion weekend and dinner dance will again feature the music of the renown “Tallahassee Swing” band.. The 14 piece orchestra will be the highlighted feature of the Saturday, March 10 dinner and dance event.
Tickets for the special event are on sale now, and may be purchased at
the Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum in Carrabelle, located at 302
Marine St. The $ 30.00 dinner dance price includes a choice of seafood
or barbeque chicken dinner catered by Carrabelle’s Hog Wild barbeque
restaurant. The dinner and dance will be held at the Senior Center on
Avenue F, just west of Highway 67. (The public is encouraged to
purchase tickets for the event soon, since reservations are also
allocated to honor returning veterans.)
This will be the second consecutive year the Tallahassee “Swing” has performed for the reunion event. The musical group has a special affinity for the WWII veterans. The band, which is well known for their versatility in both modern and swing arrangements, feature the works of great band leaders such as Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw and Duke Ellington. They also perform Latin and Polka renditions to the delight of their dancing and listening audiences.
