homemaker-health-companion-pic-200The TCC Wakulla Center is offering a Homemaker Health Companion course beginning in March and continuing until May.

Course details are:

Homemaker Health Companion [MED0109]
80 hours of instruction
Cost:  $299
Financial aid does not apply, as this is a non-credit course

This course will cover the skills and management practices required to effectively care for elderly individuals and/or those with special needs in their home setting.  This course will enable the students to assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s), Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL’s), handle emergency situations, and assist in providing a safe home environment. Homemaker Health Companions can specialize in varying areas or one aspect of home care, such as aiding those inflicted with dementia.

Textbook used (not included in cost of course):
Mosby’s Textbook for the Home Care Aide, 2nd Edition or newer
by Joan M. Birchenall, RN, Med and Eileen Streight, RN, BS.

•    Introduction to Assisted Living Facilities (ALF’s)
