Special Olympics Torch Run to be Held April 16

The annual Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run will be held Monday, April 16 at 10 a.m. beginning at the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.
The group will gather at 9:30 a.m. at the sheriff’s office parking lot where Sheriff Donnie Crum will wish the runners well. The event is in preparation for the Florida State Special Olympic Games in Orlando in May.
Runners are encouraged to take part in the Torch Run and may purchase Special Olympics Torch Run 2012 shirts through Steve Barrow barrows@leoncountyfl.gov or Laura Collins at lauracollins@sofl.org. The shirts are $12 ($20 for stay-dry shirts).
Members of law enforcement (and others) are encouraged to attend.
The 2012 State Summer Games will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World on May 18 and May 19. More than 1,500 athletes will be competing in bocce, cycling, soccer, tennis, track and field and volleyball.
