Wakulla County Historical Society Heritage Book Meetings Scheduled
{sidebar id=3}
The Wakulla County Historical Society has embarked on a Wakulla County Family Heritage Book Project that will reflect the people and the heritage of Wakulla County. The project has been ongoing for approximately one year. When completed, the book will contain true stories about the people, events, communities, schools, etc. of Wakulla County. The Historical Society is asking community members to contribute stories about their families to be included in the book. Contributors must either (1) currently live in Wakulla County, (2) have lived in Wakulla County at some point in their lives, or (3) have ancestors from Wakulla County.
If you would like to keep up with the book's progress and perhaps be of a help in getting more submissions, you are invited and more than welcome to attend the upcoming meetings, held at 6:30 p.m. at the Wakulla County Public Library, and scheduled as follows:
Tuesday, February 19
Tuesday, March 18
April - NO MEETING
Tuesday, May 20
Tuesday, June 17
The June meeting will be the project wrap-up If everything is completed by June 30, 2008, the books will be published in the fall and will be available for Christmas!
Stories are beginning to come in and books are being sold. The selling price for the book is currently $50, but will be $60 when they are published. "We are quite pleased with the stories we have received but know there are hundreds more waiting to be written," said Betty Green of the Wakulla County Historical Society. "Encourage your families, friends and neighbors to write. Also get the word out that we want topical stories.... about schools, churches, communities, businesses, etc."
