Please Help American Soldiers in Iraq by Donating Useful Items
Visitors to the Camp Gordon Johnston Museum were asked to join with the Museum in donating necessary, and useful, items that our soldiers were in need of while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. A contribution box and donation jars were placed at city businesses as well as the Museum itself.
Information posted on the internet, under “anysoldier.com ,” allowed us to select a specific soldier, sailor, marine or airman and send a package to that individual’s unit. We sent three packages; one went to a marine unit in Afghanistan. Two were sent to army units in Iraq. The items included toiletries, sun block, cigars, instant flavoring to add to bottled water, chewing gum, children’s toys for Iraqi children and snacks of all kinds. Two of these units have returned home.
Pictured above is “Team Nightmare,” still serving in Iraq. This unit is stationed with Iraqi troops and these men do not have immediate access to American military commissaries. Their only source of American goods are those supplied by their families and people like us. We welcome you to join in our efforts to support our troops.
