Girl Scouts Seeking Nominations for Women of Distinction
The Girl Scout Council of the Apalachee Bend, Inc. is seeking nominations to recognize women in our community who have distinguished themselves through service and leadership. A program inspired by Girl Scouts nationally, the Women of Distinction awards honor women from across the panhandle that truly stand up for their commitment to the community. The 2008 Women of Distinction Awards Gala "A Night of Treasures" will be held on November 18, 2008, at the University Center Club on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee.
“The Awards Gala will truly be an event to celebrate a Night of Treasures, the women in our community whose leadership and commitment enrich the lives of many.” stated Raslean M. Allen, CEO of the Girl Scout Council. “We invite you to nominate distinguished women from our community.”
{sidebar id=1}Nominees must live or work within the geographic boundaries of Girl Scout Council of the Apalachee Bend. (Bay, Calhoun, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, Wakulla, or Washington counties.)
Nominees should exemplify extraordinary civic, professional and/or philanthropic commitment and achievement and be a role model for girls, demonstrating a commitment to the advocacy for improving the lives of women and/or girls. The women nominated must have demonstrated initiative, integrity and leadership characteristics. Nominees are not required to have been or currently be a Girl Scout.

The deadline for nominations is Monday, September 15, 2008. Nominations can be made immediately online by clicking here.
