WALKING FOR AWARENESS: Epilepsy Association to Host First Annual Walk-a-Thon
The Epilepsy Association of the Big Bend’s 1st Annual Walk-A-Thon will take place Saturday, October 18th 2008 at the Wakulla Station Trailhead on the St. Marks Trail. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue until 12 p.m. Food and beverages will be provided, and awards will be given to the top fundraising team and individual who secures the most donations. Raffle tickets will also be sold prior to and the day of the event for several prizes.
The Roller-Derby girls will be joining us along with some creative face painting for the children; John Summers with the Music Machine will be the DJ of the day, and the event will feature a key speaker who is personally affected by epilepsy. The location of the event is hosted right next to the brand new Boundless Playground that is wheelchair accessible and appropriate for children and adults of all ages.
We encourage all to participate in order to help the lives of those people affected by epilepsy. Early registration is $15 which includes a T-Shirt. Teams have a minimum of four people and the registration fee for each member of a team is $10 which includes a T-Shirt. Donations are strongly encouraged. Interested recipients are encouraged to mail registration forms with payment to the Epilepsy Association of the Big Bend, 1215 Lee Avenue, Suite M4, Tallahassee, FL 32303. All donations will be used for client and educational services free to the public.
