Join Us for the ERA and MDA “Stride & Ride” on August 11, 2007
The 2nd Annual ERA & MDA “Stride & Ride” fundraiser is rapidly approaching.
Sponsored by ERA Community Realty the event last year included a community to community walkathon and bike ride from the ERA Killearn Office to the ERA Crawfordville Office (26.2 miles). Beginning with approximately 90 walkers, 6 “Super Heroes” were successful in completing the full walking distance in 95 degree weather and 6 bikers covered the total distance. A total of $30,000 in contributions was raised for MDA with each agent raising $600.00 and 5 businesses contributing at a $1,000.00 level.
{sidebar id=1}After completing this event, Bob Teel, owner of ERA Community Realty, decided that the 26.2 mile “test walk” was a little too much to increase the number of participants and fundraising dollars for the 2007 event.
Therefore, this year’s event will include a 5K run inside Killearn Estates and then a 26.2 mile bike ride to Crawfordville. The Run starts at 8:00 a.m. and the Bike Ride starts at 9:00 a.m. “With the help of the Gulf Winds Track Club, we expect about 200-300 runners/walkers for the Killearn event,” said Bob Teel.
Secondly, there will be a Fun Walk in downtown Crawfordville at Azalea Park starting at 10:00 a.m. with the support of Ameris Bank, Capital City Bank, Wakulla Bank, Wakulla.com, the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce, the Wakulla County Parks and Recreation Department, the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office and the Wakulla News.
ERA Community Realty invites all Wakulla residents to join in the 5K Killearn run, the 26.2 mile bike ride to Crawfordville or the 5K Fun Walk in the park to help raise additional funds for MDA and Jerry’s Kids. A celebration party will be held at the ERA Community Realty office at 1517 N. Crawfordville Hwy from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with free hamburgers/hotdogs and a band. Call 926-8101 for registration information or go online at www.strideandride.info and help us break last year’s goal of $30,000.
