2010 Wakulla Relay for Life Kick Off Party to be Held Tuesday, Nov. 10

“You can never have too many candles:  join the Wakulla Relay for Life committee on November 10th to learn about how to create a world with more birthdays!”

kickoff 200.gifThe Wakulla Relay for Life Committee announced that the Kick Off Party for the 2010 Relay event will be held Tuesday, November 10th  from 6 to 8 PM in the Community Room at Wakulla Bank.  The Kick Off Party will feature a carnival-themed mini-Relay event.  Tacos, popcorn, and other carnival-themed sweets will be served.  The Kick Off Event is free and open to all community members interested in learning more about Relay for Life.

Returning teams that sign up to participate in the 2010 event will become eligible for a special Thanksgiving-themed incentive.  New teams are also welcome to sign up during this event.  The earlier you register a team, the more time your team members will have to prepare for the April 2010 event.

Don’t have a team or don’t have any idea what Relay for Life is all about?  There are still ways for you to be involved in this community-wide event to fight cancer and remember survivors.
Relay for Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.  During the Wakulla event, teams of people gather at the Wakulla High School track and take turns walking or running laps.  Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.  The event features a survivor lap, entertainment, games, refreshments available for purchase, and a luminaria lighting ceremony.  The event is free and open to the public.  Community members are encouraged to organize friends and family into teams to participate.

Teams may register online or in person.  Online Chair Nancy Commander can assist prospective teams with registration.  If you have any questions about registering your team online you can contact Nancy at 570-5463 or This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it

For general information about participating in Relay for Life, please contact Team Development Chair Linda Stalvey at 528-1013 or This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .
